1.5/2-Way RS-Series LSD Rear Differential

This RS-Series clutch type differential is extremely durable and has large diameter multi-plate clutch packs to give extremely fast and smooth engagement.  It also has a spring loaded clutch pack to provide faster response than the MZ-Series differentials which helps in promoting faster rear wheel traction response and helps increase oversteer.  The RS-design initial torque is 50 to 70% lower compared to the conventional cone plate type LSD enabling lower drive friction and better response.  This differential has very little chatter and improved durability due to the outward spring pressure on the clutch packs.  The LSD efficiency is higher with smoother oil flow between plates.  Clutch plates do not stick together like conventional cone plate type LSDs, therefore less clutch plate wear or deterioration occurs.

We recommend using one of the following gear oils in the rear differential with this clutch-type differential:

  • Redline LSD Friction Additive (4 oz bottle) with Redline 75W-90NS (NO SLIP VERSION)
  • Redline LSD Friction Additive (4 oz bottle) with Redline 75W-140NS (NO SLIP VERSION)
  • Cusco 80W-90 LSD Oil (P/N: 10 001 L01)
  • KAAZ 80W-90 LSD Oil (P/N: 71259-104)

 

There are three ways to set your Cusco Limited Slip Differentials: 1 way, 1.5 way and 2 way. 

1 way LSD: Specially suited for front wheel drive cars and AWD front axle cars. Activates under acceleration, and acts as a true LSD when the throttle is off. This CUSCO 1 way LSD will improve lap times without a doubt.
1.5 way LSD: Activates under acceleration while the under-steer under deceleration is less than on a 2 way LSD. Recommended for those who have a hard time with under-steer.
Two way LSD: Recommended on rear wheel drive cars and AWD rear axle cars. Activates on both acceleration and deceleration. Recommended for those who prefer aggressive driving and big angle drifting.Type RS LSD 1.5/2Way, Position: Rear

Key Features:

  • Cusco LSD will work when the slightest torque is applied.
  • Better transfer of power from the engine to the drivetrain with minimal loss of power
  • LSD chattering is kept to a minimum

This differential can be used with 1G / 2G DSM AWD platforms using non-LSD axles, or using Evo 8/9 non-AYC axle cups, or DSS Stage 5 Pro-Series rear axles with Evo 300M 6-Ball CV Joints.  For best durability, we recommend the DSS Stage 5 rear axles as described here.

This differential requires MN168441 rear differential tapered roller bearings (x2)  to be press-fitted on.  TMZ Performance stocks these parts and can install the bearings for an additional cost.  Please choose from the drop down menu at the top of the page if you would like the install kit (bearings), and if you would like TMZ Performance to assemble the differential with these parts.
