Details:

This is THE clutch you all have been waiting to arrive!  This is the same PROTOTYPE Quarter Master Clutch assembly that I have been running in my car, and it was specifically designed as a disk upgrade for people producing high torque numbers, or having issues with clutch disk hub spline failure or input shaft damage from the other multi-disk clutch assemblies on the market today. 

This is a completely NEW DESIGN for the clutch disk hub and removes any chances of twisting your input shaft splines or stripping off the clutch disk hub splines on the twin-disk clutch.  The NEW Quarter Master GEAR-DRIVE Rally 7.25" V-Drive Twin Disk Clutch Assembly utilizes the same heavy-duty clutch disks (0.250"-thick disks) and same heavy-duty ferrometallic friction material, but doubles the amount of engagement surface on the input shaft, doubles the number of clutch hub rivets holding the hub to the disk, and dramatically increases the clutch disk engagement surface by utlizing a fixed-hub back disk, and a floating front disk.  This clutch disk assembly will support over 1000TQ!  As well, due to the hub/slider design, it reduces clutch decelleration chatter and harmonics along with eliminating input shaft spline twisting or deformation.  If you are looking for the ULTIMATE DSM twin-disk clutch without the price of a carbon/carbon multi-disk assembly, you have found it!  The clutch is also very streetable and has smooth engagement characteristics with low noise and extremely soft pedal feel. 

The entire Quarter Master Clutch Assembly (Clutch cover, pressure plate, front disk, floater plate, rear disk and chromoly steel flywheel weighs in at an astounding 17 POUNDS!  The lighter the clutch assembly and the smaller the diameter, the less Moment Of Inertia (MOI) the clutch has; resulting in faster revving, less drivetrain power loss, higher RPM shifting, and faster shifting capabilities!

The NEW DESIGN clutch disk hub splines now engage the entire length of the input shaft using one piece, whereas the original design, and every other design out there currently being used engages the input shaft using two separate floating hubs. The older clutch disks (current production pieces) engage at the most of 0.850" on the input shaft splines. The new hub design engages 1.550" of the input shaft splines with a single piece!!! These clutch disks have nearly DOUBLE the engagement area on the input shaft!  The single solid piece design will definitely require you to have a good input shaft in the transmission, but it will eliminate the potential issue of twisting off input shaft splines on high HP cars. The only way the clutch can potentially fail now, would be for the input shaft to snap in half!

This NEW DESIGN takes the entire splined hub and puts it on one single disk, then floats the second disk on a set of much larger/beefier splines to prevent failure, while reducing excessive clutch harmonics and decelleration chatter.  TMZ Performance still recommends using a Fluidampr Harmonic Crank Damper to further reduce 4th Order harmonics, as it will increase the life of your clutch, transmission and engine bearings.  The splined hub is approximately 3.00" and is 39-spline for engagement of the second disk, whereas the old version is like any other Mitsubishi (Ford 20-spline) 7/8" 20-spline engagement hub. The clutch disk hub is also much stronger by the fact it is now using 12 rivets instead of the 8 rivets used on the current production version. That's 50% MORE FASTENERS holding the hub to the disk!

Minor modification / grinding of the clutch fork is required to clear the clutch cover on this unit.

Like all Quarter Master Clutch products, these clutch assemblies are fully rebuildable and can be used over and over again by just replacing the parts that are worn.  This saves money in the long run!

This clutch assembly IS NOW ready for production!

This is the original Quarter Master Rally 7.25" V-Drive Twin Disk Clutch Assembly that has been serving the DSM community for the last 4 years with excellent results!  This unit includes the pressure plate assembly (clutch cover and pressure plate), standard clutch disks with heat-treated hubs, floater plate, hardware, and Quarter Master Brand lightweight chromoly steel flywheel.  The entire assembly weighs in around 18.5 pounds!  This clutch allows for extremely fast shifting based on the reduced rotating weight (much lower Moment of Inertia -- MOI) and smaller diameter clutch disk assembly when compared to a standard single disk clutch design.  This clutch shifts excellent at high rpm's and will be able to shift faster than the single disk clutches.

As with most multi-disk clutch assemblies, there is the concern for streetability and clutch chatter/harmonics.  TMZ Performance still recommends using a Fluidampr Harmonic Crank Damper to further reduce 4th Order harmonics, as it will increase the life of your clutch, transmission and engine bearings.  Engagement is quick and crisp! 

This clutch is rated by the manufacturer for around 600TQ safely.  If you are making really serious power, you should look at the updated Gear-Drive Heavy-Duty design listed above.
